Why I Built VerseTurtle

I'll be straight with you: I'm not a tech guy. I'm a disabled Air Force veteran and a believer, and the honest truth is I built this for myself first. I wanted a way to actually get to know the words of the Bible — not just always mean to, the way I had for years — and when I couldn't find quite the right thing, I decided to build it myself. A piece at a time, until it was real. No company behind me, no investors. Just me, a lot of patience, and a stubborn hope that if it helped me, it might help somebody else too.

Here's what I kept coming back to. Most of us want to spend a little time in the Word each day. But life gets loud, days slip away, and a lot of Bible apps somehow leave you feeling behind — like one more thing you're failing at. I didn't want that. I wanted the opposite of that.

So VerseTurtle is built to be gentle. One verse a day. Miss one? No guilt — you just pick it back up tomorrow. Slow and steady. (That's the whole reason it's a turtle.) Deep in your faith or just getting started like I was, it's the same simple idea: show up a little at a time, and let it add up.

Two things I promised myself at the start. The Bible itself is free, and always will be — the full KJV and World English Bible are right in the app, and Scripture is never locked behind a paywall. There's one small one-time unlock for the extras, $2.99, no subscription — because I'm not out to get rich off God's Word. I just want to keep the app running and earn a little for the work. That's the honest truth of it.
